Japanese honeysuckle (Lonicera japonica) is a semievergreen vine of the family Caprifoliaceae that grows in temperate and tropical regions in Asia, Europe and Africa. It is widely used in traditional Chinese medicine for its nutritional and medicinal properties. It is a rich source of a variety of bioactive compounds including essential oils, saponins, organic acids, iridoids, and flavonoids.
