Dr. Kitt Schaller founded Wingspan Veterinary Care in April 2025. Her journey with chickens began in first grade when, as the only farm kid in class, she eagerly brought home the classroom chicks. That early connection blossomed into a goal: to become Madison’s go-to chicken vet. Dr. Kitt earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from UW-Madison in 2014. She began her career working with dairy cattle before transitioning to a specialized practice in end-of-life care for pets, a field she continues to be part of today. However, recognizing a growing need for dedicated backyard poultry care in Madison and the surrounding communities, she decided to spread her wings and turn her vision into reality—giving rise to Wingspan Veterinary Care.Passionate about blending traditional and modern medicine, Dr. Kitt incorporates alternative therapies such as acupuncture and Reiki alongside modern veterinary techniques. She is committed to providing compassionate, expert care for backyard flocks and poultry enthusiasts. At home in Verona, she and her husband raise their children on a small dairy farm, surrounded by a menagerie of furry and feathered friends.
