Dr. Saslaw grew up in Port Washington, New York. She attended Harvard University, receiving her undergraduate degree in Psychology and Social Relations. After a year spent in an immunology research lab at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, she attended Tufts School of Veterinary Medicine in Massachusetts. She moved south to Rhode Island with her newly minted DVM license, where she took a position at the largest veterinary hospital in the state at the time. She spent 5 years learning her craft and practicing emergency medicine and surgery there. At that point she realized that she wanted to get to know her patients and their owners in a more unhurried manner, so she left emergency medicine for smaller, more personal practice. She worked in a few smaller clinics until 2010, when she purchased Wickford Veterinary Clinic with Dr. Lorenson.
