Las Tablas Animal Hospital


Las Tablas Animal Hospital opened in 2014 with a mission that not only includes dedication to knowledgeable, compassionate care, but a commitment to the community. The staff, including practice owner Dr. David Edsall, has over 50 years’ combined experience in veterinary medicine and provides expert care for a wide variety of animal companions including dogs, cats, exotic pets, and birds. They will see chickens, ducks and other backyard fowl.

David Edsall , DVM

Dr. David Edsall obtained his doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University in 1992 and from there completed a formal internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at one the largest and best known Phoenix areas full service veterinary hospitals, Mesa Veterinary Hospital in Mesa, Arizona.Dr. Edsall’s experience comes from working at several animal hospitals and zoos. He worked at an emergency and referral hospital for 11 years in Tucson, Arizona and was also an on staff veterinarian at the A.Z.A accredited zoos at Reid Park Zoo and Arizona Sonora Desert Museum in Tucson. He joined Atascadero Pet and Emergency Center in Atascadero in January 2006 and was a partner until 2014.Dr. Edsall’s compassion for animal medicine shines through with his incredible bedside manner and his way of communicating with clients and their pets, his testimonials speak for themselves. He is extremely excited about opening Las Tablas Animal Hospital and sees a strong future for what his new state of the art animal hospital will be able to offer to clients and pets in San Luis Obispo County.Dr. Edsall lives with his wife Aimee and their twin boys in Templeton with their two dogs and two cats. They enjoy the outdoors, the beach and traveling in their spare time.

Lariann Baretta, DVM

Dr. Lariann Baretta graduated from Colorado State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2003 with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. After graduation she completed a one-year internship at VCA Emergency and Referral Hospital in San Diego where she obtained additional training in medicine, surgery and critical care. She worked at a small animal general practice hospital and a multi doctor emergency hospital in Northern California until moving to Paso Robles. Her special interests include ultrasonography, internal medicine (especially chronic diseases) and oncology.Her undergraduate education is a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Ecology at UC Irvine. Between obtaining her undergraduate degree and starting veterinary school she worked primarily in wildlife biology and travelled in Alaska and Central America.
