Dr. Erin Preiss grew up in Waterloo and completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery after veterinary medicine at University of Guelph, then worked in primary and emergency care in Canada and the United States. After starting her own small homestead and looking for assistance in the early days, she realized there is a need for veterinarians who travel and treat backyard flocks. She’s grateful to call Hockley Valley her home where she lives with a small zoo of animals. Other than dogs and a small black cat, she keeps quail, chickens, ducks, and a rabbit. Primary interests and areas of focus for the practice are wellness and medicine, cardiology, dermatology, nutrition, hospice care and pain management, behaviour and husbandry. As a practice we aim to work towards fear free handling and enjoy working with you to achieve a plan that suits everyone’s lifestyle and needs. Her family jokes that her veterinarian job supports her animal addiction.
