Dr. Clairissa Maples was raised on a small farm in Southeastern OK. Growing up, she could always be found playing with her animals. She graduated from Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2016. After working for a small animal hospital for two years, she met Dr. Heatly and officially joined Great Plains Veterinary Services in November 2018. Dr. Maples loves educating clients about the care needed for their pets as they progress through different life stages to ensure they live a long and healthy life with their family. She is especially fond of geriatric patients, which inspired her to pursue training in veterinary acupuncture as an alternative method of treating chronic and age related diseases. Dr. Maples also enjoys feline and canine internal medicine, surgery cases, and dental care. In her spare time, she likes to travel, spend time with her friends and German Shorthaired Pointer, Sally, and compete in local autocross events with her Mustang.
Dr. Summer Heatly grew up in SW Oklahoma and developed an interest in veterinary medicine, and a strong passion for 4 legged creatures at a young age. She graduated from the Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary medicine in 2009. She then completed a 1 year internship at Peterson and Smith Equine Hospital in Ocala, Fl prior to returning to Oklahoma. Dr. Heatly then then joined a busy equine practice in central OK where she expanded her skills in equine medicine, surgery, sports medicine, and reproduction, along with being introduced to wildlife medicine and surgery, and still maintaining her knowledge of her smaller 4 legged friends. In January of 2015, Dr. Heatly founded Great Plains Veterinary Services, a full service, ambulatory, small animal and equine practice. Since that time, GPVS has expanded into a full service mixed animal, 2 doctor practice that resides in Arcadia, OK. Her goal was to develop a cutting edge mixed animal hospital, along with ambulatory services, that provide compassionate and progressive care for multiple species. In her free time, Dr. Heatly enjoys spending time with her husband Chad, maintaining their “funny farm”, mountain biking, trail riding, spending time with their families, live music, camping with their dogs, and escaping to the mountains when they can!
