Jasmine Mengers, DVM

Dr. Jasmine Mengers received her B.A. degrees in biology and anthropology from Saint Mary’s College of Maryland, her M.S. degree in poultry welfare and behavioral neurophysiology from the University of Maryland College Park, and her D.V.M degree from Tufts University in Boston. While she is passionate about many aspects of veterinary medicine, her special interests include exotic animal medicine and animal behavior. On her off days, Dr. Mengers can be found hiking, enjoying being near the water, antiquing, and spending time with her human partner in crime, her lab-princess mix (Bunny), and her rabbit. (Bee).

Katelyn Heydt, DVM

Dr. Katelyn Heydt received her undergraduate degree from St. Mary’s College of MD in 2012. She went on to receive her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Ross University (with her clinical year being completed at LSU SVM) in 2016. Dr. Heydt previously worked at Chadwell Animal Hospital for 5 years and then relocated to Houston, Texas in early 2022. She spent the last 3 years in Houston working in general practice and as one of the wildlife veterinarians for the Houston Humane Society Wildlife Center. She is excited to return to Maryland and rejoin Chadwell Animal Hospital. Dr. Heydt’s interests include small animal medicine and exotic animal medicine. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, spending time outdoors, and visiting with family and friends. She shares her home with her 3-legged dog, Abita

Keith Gold, DVM

Dr. Gold has been a Maryland resident since 1973. He graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park with a B.S. in biology in 1986. He then went on to complete a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at Ross Universityin 1989. Dr. Gold practiced at the Falls Road Animal Hospital for 14 years prior to opening Chadwell Animal Hospital in September 2003. He was responsible for starting the exotic animal practice, raising the quality and level of care for the exotic species. Wildlife rescue, exotic animal medicine, and surgery have always been his passions. He is a member of the AVMA, MVMA, AAV, and ARAV. Dr. Gold and Dr. Schaupp have been married since 1990 and have a son, Jordan. They live with 2 French Bulldogs (Nugget and Bug), a 210 lb Irish Wolfhound (Eddie), 2 cats (Puck and Ranger), 1 cockatoo (Dudley), 3 tortoises, and 2 horses (Tucker and RayRay). Dr. Gold likes to work out and enjoys outdoor activities with the family.
