Dr. Dazen received his Bachelors degree in Animal Bioscience from Penn State University in 1981 and his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1986 from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Veterinary Medicine. He has been active in the field of avian and exotic animal medicine since establishing the Animal & Bird Health Care Center in 1990. Dr. Dazen joined a select group of individuals when he became a board certified Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners, specializing in Avian Practice, in 2000. Dr. Dazen is also on the Exotic Companion Animal Medicine Service emergency staff at the University of Pennsylvania PennVet Hospital. He is actively involved with the Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge, The Schuylkill Wildlife Center, the Freedom Center for Wildlife and the Discovery Museum providing medical and surgical care for its rescues and resident educational animals. He currently sits on the Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Board of Trustees. Dr. Dazen also serves a number of other animal rescues and rehabilitation organizations, most notably Lilo's Promise Pit Bull Rescue.
