Matt Sellers, DVM

Matthew Sellers, DVM is a graduate of Oklahoma State University Veterinary Health Sciences, where he also attended his undergraduate studies and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in Agriculture through the College of Animal Science. Dr. Sellers was on the Dean's list and Presidents Honor Roll during his time at OSU. Upon graduation he began working as an associate veterinarian at APC Veterinary Hospital in Tulsa, OK. After a year of general practice, Dr. Sellers began studying acupuncture through the Chi Institute and completed the course in December of 2016. In addition to acupuncture, Dr. Sellers enjoys surgery with a special interest in soft tissue surgery. He enjoys exotic animals as well with his favorites including reptiles, big cats, and bears. He is a veterinarian for Turpentine Creek Animal Refuge where he did an internship before veterinary school working with lions, tigers, and bears...oh my! He often refers to this experience as a life changer. While Dr. Sellers has wanted to be a veterinarian since he was seven, many aspects of how he wanted to practice were solidified at Turpentine Creek. Dr. Sellers loves snakes and lizards and feels there is no such thing as one too big. Dr. Sellers was born in Tulsa, but moved to Phoenix as a young boy where he grew up with an older sister and his native Tulsan mother and father. He lived for the outdoors with a special affection for the water. He collected all kinds of animals from lizards and fish to birds and turtles. He grew up idolizing Steve Irwin and dreaming of a day when he could be just like him. Dr. Sellers also had a beautiful golden retriever, a parakeet, and gerbils that were actually allowed to stay in the house. Dr. Sellers moved to Ventura County, California after graduating from high school to play football and run track for Moorpark College. He also did intensive studying in animal behavior and training at the famed Exotic Animal Training and Management program at Moorpark. After receiving his associates degree, he moved back to Oklahoma to be closer to family, and pursue veterinary medicine.
