Mycoplasma meleagridis

Mycoplasma are a genus of tiny bacteria known for causing immunosuppression and respiratory disease in their affected host. The Mycoplasma genus is unique to other bacteria in that they lack a cell wall around their cell membrane. This provides them the ability to resist many common antibiotics that work by targeting cell wall synthesis. Over 100 species of Mycoplasma have been reported, each infecting a specific group of animal species that serve as a host.
