Yunnan baiyao is a traditional Chinese herbal medicine widely used to help control bleeding and promote blood circulation. The anti-bleeding effects make it a useful treatment for animals with hemangiosarcomas, GI ulcers, trauma and types of cancer. It helps decrease the risk of anemia due to blood loss and can be taken before surgery where blood loss may be a concern.
There are no official reports of its use in birds but has been prescribed by veterinarians for chickens.
