Streptomycin is one of the first aminoglycoside antibiotics introduced. It is active against mycobacteria, Leptospira, Francisella tularensis, Yersinia pestis, but only some mycoplasma, gram-negative organisms, and Staphylococcus species.
Absorption: Streptomycin is rapidly and well absorbed from intramuscular (IM) and subcutaneous (SC) routes of administration. It is poorly absorbed from oral administration in adult birds.
