Piperacillin (brand name Pipracil®) is a broad-spectrum, penicillin beta-lactam antibiotic, used for treating bacterial infections caused by susceptible, usually gram-positive, organisms. It is most known for its use in treating pseudomonas infections, binding to specific penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) located inside the bacterial cell wall.
