Lincomycin

Lincomycin is an oral or injectable antibiotic used to treat serious skin or bone infections in birds. The poultry industry has historically used it for treatment of necrotic enteritis in chickens against Clostridium spp. It is also used to treat Mycoplasma infections in turkeys.

Lincomycin HCl is currently only available for birds in Australia, where it is combined with Spectinomycin Sulphate.

Egg Withdrawal Period: Ranges from 1 to 10 days withdrawal period for eating eggs, depending on the form of the drug used.
  • 25-50 mg/kg PO q12h
  • When combined with spectinomycin, (for most species) 50 mg/kg PO q24h
  • When combined with spectinomycin, (for waterfowl) 750 mg/L drinking water x 3-7 days
  • When combined with spectinomycin, (for turkeys) 528 mg/L drinking water

  • Ascorbic acid:The therapeutic efficacy of Lincomycin can be decreased when used in combination with Ascorbic acid.
  • Bismuth subcarbonate: Lincomycin may increase the neurotoxic activities of Bismuth subcarbonate
  • Calcium ascorbate: The therapeutic efficacy of Lincomycin can be decreased when used in combination with Calcium ascorbate.
  • Chloroquine: The risk or severity of neuromuscular blockade can be increased when Chloroquine is combined with Lincomycin.
  • Clindamycin: The risk or severity of neuromuscular blockade can be increased when Clindamycin is combined with Lincomycin.
  • Doxycycline: The risk or severity of neuromuscular blockade can be increased when Doxycycline is combined with Lincomycin.
  • Gentamicin: The risk or severity of neuromuscular blockade can be increased when Gentamicin is combined with Lincomycin.
  • Magnesium cation: The risk or severity of neuromuscular blockade can be increased when Magnesium cation is combined with Lincomycin.
  • Magnesium sulfate: The risk or severity of neuromuscular blockade can be increased when Magnesium sulfate is combined with Lincomycin.
  • Meloxicam: The risk or severity of methemoglobinemia can be increased when Lincomycin is combined with Meloxicam.
  • Neomycin: The risk or severity of neuromuscular blockade can be increased when Neomycin is combined with Lincomycin.
  • Oxytetracycline: The risk or severity of neuromuscular blockade can be increased when Oxytetracycline is combined with Lincomycin.
  • Tetracycline: The risk or severity of neuromuscular blockade can be increased when Tetracycline is combined with Lincomycin.
