Flucytosine is an antifungal drug used often in combination with other antifungals for the long-term treatment of aspergillosis, and sometimes in severe cases of candidasis (sour crop) when birds are resistant nystatin.
Caution. The drug is toxic to bone marrow. Birds treated with flucytosine should be regularly monitored with CBCs for possible bone marrow damage.
