Diclazuril is a benzene-acetonitrile derivative antiprotozoal which is effective against Toxoplasma gondii, Eimeria, Isospora, Cystoisospora, Sarcocystis, and Hepatozoon spp.
Diclazuril is highly effective in treating coccidiosis in chickens and turkeys. It acts on the asexual or sexual stages of coccidia blocking the excretion of oocysts. Diclazuril is of low toxicity, and is commercially available in formulations for oral administration.
