Avilamycin is an orthosomycin antibiotic found in commercial feeds that was created for veterinary use in chickens, turkeys, pigs, and rabbits to control bacterial enteric infections. Due to the remaining residue of dichloroisoeverninic acid that remains in the bird and is released into the environment in feces, and eggs of hens, it has been labeled as not for use in animals which eggs are produced for human consumption.
