Dr. Dexter is a 2003 graduate of the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She received her Bachelors of Science Degree with Honors in Biology from Randolph-Macon Woman’s College in Lynchburg, Virginia. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Virginia Veterinary Medical Association and the Veterinary Information Network. Dr. Dexter grew up on a farm in New England with many horses, goats, chickens, dogs and cats. She has worked as a small animal and equine veterinarian since graduation. She lives in Powhatan with her husband Matt, their two daughters Sydney and Abigail, their Rhodesian Ridgeback Reuben, Boston Terriers Benson and Barbary, and three kitties Manny, Minny and Stewart. Also on the farm are a miniature donkey named Dunkey, a Nubian goat named Sprinkles, and 5 chickens. In 2007, after years of practicing in veterinary hospitals, Dr. Dexter founded Capital Home Veterinary Care LLC, a housecall practice, with the goal of providing exceptional veterinary care at an affordable price in the comfort of home.
