Atorvastatin is an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor used to lower lipid levels and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease including myocardial infarction and stroke in humans.
There is limited research on its effects in birds, but preliminary findings suggest that some hypolipidemic effect can be seen in parrots. It may be beneficial for birds with lipid-accumulation disorders such as atherosclerosis and fatty liver disease.
